If you do continue, please add a pronunciation in English for the Russian word. Thanks!

This is a great idea. I'm 50 years out from studying Russian in college, but interested to see what I can pick up through this approach!

I love this idea and will look for your posts, Holle. My Russian is not good enough to read full chapters but I’ve been studying it again for the past 2 months (like @David Griesemer, I’m several decades from my college Russian studies). Your five words are a wonderful addition to my Russian rejuvenation and my appreciation of War and Peace. Thank you so much for posting this!

Love this! I thought of reading Crime and Punishment this way also. I am also rusty on my Russian. Thank you for sharing!

I loved this as a language nerd and very fond of Russian. I hope you continue.

really enjoyed reading this! Some of the sentences in the examples came across much richer than in english version, which is making me want to get a russian version but it's sooooooooooo intimidating!

There are Russian versions for free on Kindle and I found an audiobook on YouTube, although it's a slightly different version all in Russian (rather than with the random French bits).

Thank you! I studied Russian in college and spent a long ago summer in St. Petersburg. Just pronouncing your delightful words is a stimulating mental challenge for me! Thank you for this; I will dip in and out as I have a few minutes. The actual Russian words adds a richness to my reading of the story and understanding of the characters.
